SCi completes Darwin Centre, Phase 2

SCi have successfully completed the supply and installation of Portland Stone Flooring to the main autrim levels and grand staircases to Phase 2 of the Natural History Museum.
The second phase of the Darwin Centre is an extension of the famous Natural History Museum in London, taking the form of an enormous cocoon in a glass covered atrium. Museum guests will be able to explore the interiors of the cocoon when the extension opens to the public in 2009. The cocoon will house the museums unique collection of 17 million insects and 3 million plants, as well as a working laboratory for 220 scientists from all over the world.
This latest development at the Natural History Museum is the most significant since its move to South Kensington in 1881 and this is reflected by the generous donations towrads the £78 million cost by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Department of Culture, Media & Sport and the Wellcome Trust.
SCi ltd was chosen by Messrs HBG Construction Ltd through competative tender, to carry out the supply and site installation of 'Jordans Whitbed' limestone flooring and staircases to the main atrium levels.
